Cerebus / Frazetta Tribute

JOHN CHEN:
(from VFX Forge Blog, 28 December 2012)
Been working on a poster for Cerebus Film in tribute to the great Frank Frazetta, this is a close up test render and comp/post. I’m been brave with the colors here, pushing it a bit I think lol. Final poster will be a complete full profile shot, as seen in the screengrab.

He really did a magnificent job! You can also see some of his incredible work on the Captain America trailer that was shown during the Super Bowl today.

We used an early version of this poster rendered in Ken Burns effect in the Kickstarter (yet-to-be) promo for the Cerebus 3D animated movie on http://Cerebus.TV ... where director Oliver Simonsen is the Animation Director for CerebuTV as well.

yeah, I've had my finger on the trigger of the kickstarter campaign for a while...it would be great, of course -but then again on the other hand seems like so much work with the prizes etc lol worried i'll be completely sidetracked for 1-3 months or more as these things are a lot of work with most of the money going toward postage and such instead of it going towards the film production itself. Though other campaigns have made it work so there's that. Also a big one is...really not sure if we should offer the film as a prize or not. I've been told that might get in the way if we hope to eventually be in theaters and without that not sure how successful a campaign would be. Anyway, will probably go ahead soon enough in which case we really should have an official looking trailer ready, something we should get crackin' on anyway. A lot of it is probably just me as I've had my eye on the ball of just finishing the film for so long now with a steady routine and blinders on and need to become a bit more flexible again -besides we've hit a point where a lot of stuff that needs to be done is "invisible-technical-unglamourous-drudge" stuff kinda somewhat akin to the Lebafon situation...it's a bottleneck situation and we really need a paid expert person to do it for it to go faster and get done in our lifetime:). With Dave now looking to possibly start a kickstarter for "Death of Alex" we might have missed our window temporarily and need to wait another cycle as we probably shouldn't have two campaigns run at the same or even in too close a time span.
