Gah! Colour!

GERHARD:
(from Gerz Blog, 7 July 2014)
Anwar contacted me about colouring a piece of Cerebus art that he'd acquired. He lives in Germany and rather than mailing me the physical art, he had it scanned and sent me the file which I then had printed out on watercolour paper. And then I hand-coloured the print.

This could usher in a whole new way of doing things: Send me a high res scan of your favourite art, I'll send you back a hand coloured print. Anyone interested can contact me at -- gerzmail [at] yahoo [dot] ca -- and we can discuss details.

Gorgeous. I'm probably in the minority, but I would love to see all of Cerebus in color.

It's the only way they could get me to buy the whole thing over again

Three words:
Hardcover. Quality paper.

Otherwise I'm happy with my "floppies" and Swords.

It's nice to know that all the quality stuff Dave and Ger did for fans isn't locked away in the Brian Coppola vault...it just seems like it's all there - HA!

Didn't Dave say he was never gonna do hardcover editions for some reason?

Tony again said...

Right, we have to wait until he dies and Cerebus goes into the public domain.

PS So, then, I'm NOT looking forward to having the hardcover edition, if you know what I mean...

Dave also said he would never allow foreign language editions, but they exist in French and Spanish and those are hardcover. I guess if a billionaire discovered Cerebus and really loved it the ultimate-final-edition could be hard bound. If I had the scratch I would certainly offer to do it.

There is, of course, absolutely nothing stopping you from having a book binder make a set of custom hardcovers. I know David Banks has at least one such set, and I've sold several custom bound Cerebus books on eBay over the years. My next Cerebus bind will incorporate custom-made head sketches from Dave as frontispieces to each volume, as well as adding in the extra stories where they fit into the storyline, the bi-weekly sketches, the Swords intros, all that stuff. I even have a Cerebus stamp for the spines.

Now I just need the money and time to pull all the issues together.

And yes, I'll be using an original #1.
